Journey To the West piece after
SO MUCH email correspondence and FTP Server drama and sketches and youtube videos and Gorillaz music videos! In the coming weeks we'll more than likely be doing prints of these so once we come up with a price together I'll let anyone interested know. How about some process?!
Initial emails were spent combining our thumbnails into something coherent
Once we nailed down a thumbnail that had a layout we both loved I drew up a quick color study of how I thought the final would look, and from there Amanda made a refined sketch and used that as the basis for nearly a dozen other color studies, like the one below...
From there, I divided which sections would go to who, and then we got started on our individual segments!
AND THERE YOU HAVE IT! Probably one of the most well thought out collaborations I have ever done, but would you expect anything less from us working together? I think not. Here's some closeups of the characters...
